permalink The thing is with mandarin, it isn't like japanese. Mandarin being a tonal language, unless the person trying to learn mandarin is aware of the different tones existing, there is no way we can truely give a lecture in mandarin on internet I believe. And the pinyin is supposed to integrate the tones.

but it's the same as:
bu ke qi - 不客起 (it's like "dont bother it", "dont mind it", or it can be "you're welcome" too)

méi guān xi - 没关系 (沒關係) (this one can be the reply for "xie xie" too, or "no need to thank :)", or "no matter")

I get extra points whenever I get a jackpot there… :)

permalink sure, giran.. :RBhalo:

i heard it's because four --> "si" (in chinese) and "si" in another tones (second tone) means dead.

si - (dead).

and 8 for luck cuz it has no end in the number, not like 2,3,5 and other numbers.
this time, for luck, they look it in international number not in chinese XD
i dont know why.. :onetooth:

jiu - 9 is a lucky number too.. (my friend said so),
jiu means long.. so it's luck for a long time.. ^^[edit]Last edit by bluesweater on Friday 14 Nov, 2008 at 11:16 -98.7%[/edit]

You've got it right Blue ( or Lan in Chinese :) )
people who wants their business being prosper, use number 9 as their house, car, or even phone number...

I wonder why people think that # 13 is unlucky number too??? not, in Chinese though

Colors :

Pai = White
Hei = Black
Hung = Red
Huang = Yellow
Lan = Blue
Jing = Green

Hong can be sugar too right? ( in different pronounce of course )
Hong pao or Ang pao = is money that's wrap in a red envelope
