Death note got me into nightmare, which got be into jrock.
(That's pretty much my life story up there)
hmm... well, wen Naruto came out, i luvd the theme songs they had! and it was so cool tht in was Japanese and i luvd all the songs so u could say thts wat got me started.
thn my friend just got me into like a whole bunch of J-Rock! XD
that would be naruto i loved the music they used for the openings and endings 1 thing lead to another and here i am listening to everything asian nao xD

like i live in india n here people dont give a damn about japanese music at all bt i got introduced to japanese music because of watching all thosse japanese shows like digimon, gransazers etc which used to come in cartoon network dubbed in hindi bt their title songs were still japanese and i eventually liked japanese songs and developed interest in japanese music n thats when i found this site

I started to listen to japanese music after i startes watching anime. There was an opening that i really liked so I looked into the group and then i found the wonderful world of Jpopasia!
when i watched hana yori dango i love the theme song.Arashi's song love so sweet introduced me in the world of Japanese music
Well, in my case it was through dramas like Hana Yori Dango and Anime like FMA, Nana, GTO, Bleach, Naruto...etc That's all i think

She showed me a song&I became addicted. She's showed me most of the bands I listen to 
I've only found one person/band by myself, lololol. So sad, but, I shall try with the more finding my own stuff lololol, but I dunno xD
I was introduced to Japanese music first in its traditional form by my Uncle Hisashi, and Jrock and V-Kei by my husband Ryu.
on my part...everything starts with L'arc en ciel >_< and that would be years years back. I accidentally listen to their songs
my friends introduced me to anime, which led to manga, which led to the culture and music

Actually, K-Pop did.
My step-dad is Korean, so whenever we vacationed in Korea or what not, I always would watch the TV and immediately got into K-Pop artists. That was pretty much all I listened to for a long time, until I discovered NEWS, and then I started hearing of Jpop artists so from then on, J-pop and J-rock have been my obsession.

The Persona video games. I have listened to some J-Pop before like in Kingdom Hearts and anime, but the Persona games were the ones that really got me interested in Japanese music. And like a few have mentioned, Death Note introduced me to Nightmare. Awesome band.
