what dose a clown troupe do???
Well most of the time we practice. We spend a lot of time practicing.
My troupe visits hospitals and does birthday parties. A circus troupe would mostly practice and do circus shows. They also visit hospitals for PR reasons and to create good will in the community they are visiting.
I frequently have people post on my wall asking of I am an actual clown. The answer is yes.
Do you wear your makeup all the time?
I only wear makeup while I am performing. I never wear it during practice or at other times.
is your make-up water proof
No, if It rains hard enough it will come off a little. I will will not run off entirely but the detailed portions will blurr and it will look bad. I also color my bears and this will come off mostly in a good rain. So it is not water prooff
e eto mmm is it hard to join a circus
Well Shadow this is a more complicated question than it would appear at first. If you want to be a roustabout it is not hard at all. You just have to be big and strong and willing to take ordr. If you want to be a performer you have to have skills and be better at them than most people. this often takes years of practice.
There was once a time when relatively inexperienced performers could join the circus and get better over time. This does not happen as much anymore. So for instance if you wanted to be a clown you better already know how to juggle and do magic. They will probably not have time to teach you.
Another way you can join is if you are a good looking woman willing to wear skimpy outfits.
Also there are families that have been in the circus for generations. If you are a member of one of those families you have a place for you without much effort other than getting and act together.
How often do you perform and how many hours a day?
I perform a couple days a week. If it is a party then an hour or two. If it is a hospital show then four or five hours. During the summer I do a lot more parties and parades. So I might perform everyday in a week. It depends on the season and who wants us
what is the best and worst thing about being a clown?
Well the best part is making kids happy.
The worst thing is probably the heavy makeup on a hot day. It smells funny to me when it gets to hot and drives me nuts. Granted it is a small price to pay

I have done shows at Christmas time but I have never dressed up as Santa
