Of course her arguement is subjective, its based on opinion, lolz, just saying.
As a fan of both, I can see why you'd say Kumi has a better voice (Moon Crying had so much emotion in her voice) but Ayu has more talent vocaly and creatively. What songs of Kudi are you most into? Tell me that and I'll recomend some Ayu songs. You truelly are missing out on one of the best artist around if you dont let me help you discover her music that best fits your taste
Starry-ho, appearance has nothing to do with true talent. Just because Kumi is comfortable exploiting her sexuality doesnt make her any less talented. Ayu is more talented for various reason, but not because Kumi flaunts her stuff
If someone's going to have an opinion on something, it should be backed up with something, preferably factual - which it wasn't, making subjectivity a negative aspect of what's meant to be a persuasive argument.
This may not be true for you, but for some of us, the visual aspect of a performer can be just as important (to a certain extent) as the musical aspect ESPECIALLY in pop music, and on JPA, for Visual Kei (and of course not so much for artsits such as YUI, Epik High, etc...that's not the focus of those musicians). I bet a lot of the pervy guys who are Kumi fans obviously feel the same. If you don't think that Dila feels the same way about Rain, and Padel about Leah Dizon, you're insane. So actually, yeah, my opinion on her appearance IS relevant here, especially when NanteNa called Ayu "trashy" looking compared to Kumi. What a joke.
And I didn't relate their appearance to their talent, I merely assesed it as having to do with their completeness as pop performers and entertainers.
You can stop bashing every single one of my opinions on JPA now James. Really, it's getting quite old and contrived.[edit]Last edit by RollingStar14 on Monday 06 Apr, 2009 at 22:55 +3.3%[/edit][edit]Last edit by RollingStar14 on Monday 06 Apr, 2009 at 22:47 +2.2%[/edit][edit]Last edit by RollingStar14 on Monday 06 Apr, 2009 at 22:47 +14.5%[/edit][edit]Last edit by RollingStar14 on Monday 06 Apr, 2009 at 22:46 +12.5%[/edit][edit]Last edit by RollingStar14 on Monday 06 Apr, 2009 at 22:39 +1.6%[/edit][edit]Last edit by RollingStar14 on Monday 06 Apr, 2009 at 22:38 +1.8%[/edit]

why did you repeat this? :RBsarcastic:
Wow. Missed a BUNCH o'crap happening in here...

Sorry, my ps3 went retarded
Starry-ho, get over yourself. I wasnt bashing you just to bash you. I just have a strong opinion on the whole "Kumi is a skank" deal people bring up, and you should know I'm going to speak out on it.
BTW, I'm officially resigning as of now from argueing my thoughts, bringing up interesting topics of discussion, or even voicing an opinion that could lead to discussions. Its apparently for the better if Ay-san didnt frequent the forums like he has. I'll be around, but I dont want to be the cause of strife; it was never my intent
^ I'm glad you do have a strong opinion about it. But's that's not particularly what we were discussing before you butted in and tried to play mediator. I wouldn't have said a thing about Kumi's image if NanteNe hadn't tried to compare it to Ayu's. My purpose for bringing it up had merit, as I've proved.
"Was never your intent"...maybe you should have taken that stance before portraying me as the Kumi flamer in your post, as you've previously done in the Ayu thread. I doubt you even read the entire convo.
Well, that's the end of that. Kumi fans, feel free to get the thread back on topic now. XD
First off, let me digress that Sparkle was a pretty crappy PV for Ayu. However, the song itself (if you ignored video) and the lyrics were very powerful. Not many artists have a strong enough voice to pull of a song like that in a live performance; same goes for the song "Rule" (whose PV is much, much better). Kumi has a nice voice, I won't lie, but I've yet to hear a song of hers where she really pushes her vocals to the limit like Ayu has.
I don't think it was very fair of you to judge Ayu based on one or two PVs when she has, oh, somewhere over 70. Not only that, but she's not exactly the artist you can judge on a few songs. Kumi has mostly dance/pop songs with the occasional ballad, whereas Ayu has done rock, pop, electronic, trance, classical, and numerous combinations of these styles.
And a final thing that definitley makes Ayu superior as an artist to Kumi is the fact that she doesn't use her sexuality to sell her music. I mean she's very beautiful and sexy, but she doesn't act the exhibitionist that Kumi does, in either PVs or performances. If Ayu overly exposes her body, it's to make a statement, such as in the PV for "1Love". It's rather funny you call her cheap, of all things, no offense. Have you seen Kumi's "Juicy"? ![]()
Don't get me wrong, Kumi has her moments (her stuff since "Showgirl" has all been pretty decent, if not better, actually), but, in the end, she's just another pop star as far as originality. Ayumi will not just be known for her popularity, but also the way in which she has changed the Japanese music industry altogether.
LOL. Seems like this has become a competition of opinion here.
SPARKLE indeed was quite bad. I saw a live version of it and was petrified. Maybe Ayumi HAS GOT talent. I just haven't seen it yet. I don't think that Koda is less vocally gifted than Ayumi as I have not seen any good performance of Ayumi as of yet. Shorty did recommend some, but I'm not really up for her either way. She has her fans - I'm not joining them tho. Maybe I'm judgmental like that, she's just not my type or artist.
All artists have their moments.
If only I could, I would strangle Kumi with 'That Aint Cool' and make her PROMISE to NEVER make such a crappy collab with another artist ever again. Fergie is bad for one's image. Maybe she's just not going for the serious image. What do I know, I'm just a simple fan of Eastern Asian Music. I don't know anything about Kumi' career (besides for the news and PVs/lives I've run into) and same goes for Ayumi. But my opinion is set and it won't change unless I see sometime spectacular. Also I admit to the fact that Kumi uses WAY too much sex in her public appearance - but she's not the only one. ALL artists are somewhat 'forced' to play the 'sexy'-card at some point; basically because sex sells.
There's no need to get cranky, people. This is just a plain discussion.
; Didn't mean to put up a fight or light a fire. lol.
