Born and raised in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, BoA was discovered by SM Entertainment talent agents when she accompanied her older brother to a talent search. In 2000, after two years of training, she released ID; Peace B, her debut Korean album, under SM Entertainment. Two years later, she released her debut Japanese album, Listen to My Heart, under the Avex label. On October 14, 2008, under SM Entertainment USA, a subdivision of SM Entertainment, BoA debuted in the United States with the single "Eat You Up" and released her debut English-language album, BoA on March 17, 2009.
Influenced by hip hop and R&B singers such as Nelly and Janet Jackson, many of BoA's songs fall into those genres. As the singer feels she does not "have any talent for writing [songs]",[3] the writing and composition of her songs are handled mostly by her staff; for this reason, she has drawn some criticism.[4] (Though only a few of her songs are self-written, BoA began composing on her own with her Japanese debut album Listen to My Heart, in which she co-wrote and composed the song "Nothing's Gonna Change".)
BoA's multilingual skills (she speaks Japanese and conversational English along with her native Korean and has recorded songs in Mandarin Chinese)[5] have contributed to her commercial success in South Korea and Japan and her popularity throughout East Asia. She is the only non-Japanese Asian to have two million-selling albums in Japan and is one of only two artists to have six consecutive number-one studio albums on the Oricon charts since her debut. close
I looked it all over and could not find BoA with her own topic. Something wrong there.

BoA debuted when she was only 13. the video for Key of Heart was kinda sad. my friend gonna be so unhappy when she see Donghae in an accident. she wanted him back in the end, but it was too late. she is pretty though.

I don't know if anybody knows yet...but I just checked Itunes and Eat You Up is on there!! I can't find the full American pv anywhere though. *prays they've trashed it and decided to go with the Korean version*
i thought the dancing in Eat you up was really cool! but the music isn really that great.
this is not her best song...i was kinda disappointed that this is gonna be her debut song in US
i was looking for smth bigger ![]()
Just another quick announcement! I've found the full U.S. MV of Eat You Up on YouTube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=waFSHnneXkw
Terrible compared to the Asian version. Don't know what anybody else thinks, but I think the background dancers and effects are terrible, the camera work is messed up, and the scenes with BoA by herself look awkward for her and out of place. The one part I did enjoy however was when BoA is dancing alone in front of the colorful graffitied wall. All in all, this version just doesn't have a point like the other.
RollingStar14, I agree with your feelings on the video completely! I think she would have a MUCH better chance in America if they just used her Asian video for the American release...the concept and visuals in the MV are totally something you'd see on MTV anyway, so I just don't understand why they aren't using it (probably some legal mumbo-jumbo, I'm sure.)! Instead, they made a cheap-o one that makes her look like she's on a wimpy budget. xD
hmmmm...i like BoA's new song Eat You Up....wasnt her best but it was still ok~!!
:giggle:
tsu: :high5:
Well TinyHobo, looks like we get our wish!!! I have another update: I was browsing Yahoo! Music today and they have the Eat You Up video on there! Even better...it's the ASIAN VERSION!!! I'm freakin' out. Next step is VH1 and MTV! :boogie:
P.S. I'm actually only a more recent BoA fan; for some reason I've just gotten really excited over her U.S. debut because I want to see an Asain artist do well here. If anyone could reccommend some of her better earlier songs and albums, that would be AWESOME!!!
^ Oh wowwww, that's great news! I'm so glad. I think her chances are so much better with the Asian video. It's really memorable and I think it would fit in really well on MTV!
I wonder when and if we'll be seeing it on TV? I'll flip out, that's for sure. xD
Did you see little BoA singing?

So cute!
I watched a little of that KS! She was talented even as a little girl. And pretty darn stylish as well. XD
boa and jaejoong....
is it true?? :RBohNo:
is it true?? :RBohNo:
I think they'd make a cute couple...but on Come to Play DBSK said that even though people always want to pair them with other celebs, its actually pretty hard because they both have crazy schedules. :RBohNo:
Does it really matter? If they have a relationship oh well. I will take their word for it though and call it a friendship and nothing more.
Anyway...
Anyone see youtube live, more importantly BoA's performance?
If not the click here!
Go BoA!
And don't forget to go to the BoA fanclub!
im on there too! woot! BoA!
i think that BoA is very cute....! :RBstickout:
