Pre-debut
Prior to B.A.P's debut, Yong Guk was a rapper in underground hip hop group "Soul Connection" under the stage name of "Jepp Blackman". After being signed to TS Entertainment, Yong Guk was featured on labelmate Song Jieun's song, "Going Crazy". He then went on and made his official solo debut on August 11, 2011 with the single "I Remember", featuring Yang Yo-seob of Beast. Member Himchan was first introduced to the public as an emcee for a music show program, MTV The Show.[4]
On November 23, 2011, Zelo was introduced to public through a sub-unit with Yong Guk called Bang & Zelo. They debuted with the song "Never Give Up" on December 2, 2011. On 29 December, 2011, TS Entertainment released the official debut teaser. close
B.A.P (Korean: 비에이피; acronym for Best Absolute Perfect) is a six-member hip hop South Korean K-pop boy band formed by TS Entertainment in 2012. The group consists of Bang Yong Guk, Kim Him Chan, Jung Dae Hyun, Yoo Young Jae, Moon Jong Up and Choi Joon Hong (Zelo). Prior to their debut, TS Entertainment had undergone different marketing strategies to promote the group with projects such as Yong Guk's solo activities and B.A.P's sub-unit, Bang & Zelo. On January 26, 2012 the group officially debuted with the release of the single, "Warrior". The song and its music video earned them much critical acclaim with their debut marked as "powerful and charismatic"
It was revealed that the group will have a debut documentary show, Ta-Dah It's B.A.P. First aired on January 8, 2012, the show follows the members through their daily schedule, giving fans insight on the group prior to their debut. On January 14, 2012, Bang & Zelo held a fanmeet event in Sungei Wang Plaza in Kuala Lumpur.[9]
The jacket photos for members Yong Guk and Daehyun were revealed on January 15, 2012. Subsequently, jacket photos for Zelo and Jongup were revealed on January 16 and jacket photos for Himchan and Youngjae on January 17. On January 19, 2012, the music video teaser for their debut single, "Warrior" was released. The concept of the song was deemed as strong and fierce as it features a skull, sledgehammer and flames.[10] On January 26, 2012, Yong Guk won the Best Hip Hop Artist award on Allkpop 2011 Awards.

[NEWS] 120131 B.A.P's maknae Zelo gains attention for his 16-syllables per second rap in "Warrior"
B.A.P's maknae, Zelo, has gained a lot of attention for his "LTE Rap" in the group's debut track "Warrior." The group released their debut single "Warrior" last week and performed their 3rd debut stage on SBS Inkigayo on January 29th.
Following the first chorus, Zelo (15, 1996) drops a rap at an amazing 16-syllables per second, gaining praises and awe from fans. His ability to speed-rap that fast is quite astounding for someone as young as he.
On another note, another Korean rapper known for his speed-rapping is Outsider, who raps at 24-syllables per second.
Meanwhile, TS Entertainment reports that B.A.P's fan cafe (http://cafe.daum.net/TS-ASIAN) has jumped to 10,000 registered members. Zelo, himself, has reached nearly 30,000 followers on his Twitter account (@ZELO96).

these guys are really awesome. the first time i saw their performance, it was hard for me to believe that they were a rookie group that just made their debut. i love "Warrior" and the powerful, in-your-face vibe to it XD they have definitely set the bar really high for all of the other groups making their debut this year. i usually don't care much for rookie groups but i'm definitely keeping an eye on these guys in the future

Rookie boy group B.A.P made a powerful entrance into the music scene on January 26th with their new song, “Warrior“.
Although there are numerous new rookies arising in the industry, the boys seemed unfazed and performed on live stages without a glitch.
The members who have all colored their hair to platinum blonde met with OSEN on the 2nd for an interview. The group consists of Bang & Zelo who previously made their names known as a duo group, as well as Himchan, Dae Hyun, Young Jae, and Jong Up. It’s rare for new rookies to draw large crowds at new events, but an impressive 3,000 fans were in attendance at their massive showcase that was held in Seoul on January 28th.
They say that we are a powerful new rookie group, and although it’s a bit burdensome, we will work to exceed your expectations. Our fame hasn’t really sunk in yet, but we do know that our fan cafe members are growing by the day, which we are utterly grateful for. Thank you so much. We currently have 2,000 members (laughs).” (Daehyun)
OSEN was curious as to know what their secret was; how did they have so many fans just a week after debuting?
I think my appeal is that I seem approachable, and I think I have a smooth image. Haha. This is really embarrassing to say on my own. Also, Jong Up is a really talented dancer and he is really pure and innocent. He also has this quirky side to him that people find attractive. Daehyun is really good looking, and Yong Guk has this extremely charismatic side that comes out as soon as he steps on stage, and even I think he is pretty cool. Young Jae is really responsible and meticulous about everything he does. Our maknae Zelo is adorable and tall, so he gets the support from our nuna fans. He’s also an extremely talented rapper.” (Himchan)
The members have all dyed their hair platinum blonde. They have personally participated in their stage ensembles, their concept, as well as writing and composing their songs on the album in order to express their unique colors.
I like the platinum blonde look. All six of us are really unique, and we wanted to prevent ourselves from being too different, because we wanted a ‘team’ image on stage. Our company listens to our opinions, and Yong Guk hyung who wrote all the songs on our album is really serious and determined, as are the rest of us.” (Young Jae)
Some of the B.A.P members have been preparing for this debut for two years, and they are more determined than ever.
All of us started this with all different dreams, but we all had one dream that was the same across the board when we came together as a team. We want to become international, and conquer the world. We studied a lot of foreign music as well as a variety of artists, and we want to spread our music all over the globe. I think this is a dream we can make into a reality.” (Yong Guk)
We want to make a break through in the States. A lot of music and artists I admire are from the states, so I guess we will start with Asia and head that way. Haha. We first want to steal the hearts of Korea, and show you our best efforts.” (Jong Up)
I’m the youngest here. I am 6 years younger than Yong Guk hyung. I think it’s a little easier for me being so young, because they take such good care of me. They do tease me a lot though, haha. I talk in my sleep a lot, but sometimes the hyungs answer me in their sleep. There are a lot of funny things that happen at the dorm. I think our strong friendship and teamwork is our biggest strength.” (Zelo)

Are they really rookies? They look like they are at home on stage. Great ensemble! And I oh so love Zelo, 15 and already so amazing and confident, rap is in his blood!
I love the main plug (WAAAAARIOR, it is stuck in my head), the choreography (love the "puppet master" dance and shooting with imaginary guns), Zelo's rap, video editing is also awesome, all the flying paper near to the end. Explosive energy! I love it!

They don't look like a rookie group. They're awesome. Their songs, MV, performances are awesome. I really like them. When I saw their MV, I think they are incredible. I am fascinated with their powerful voice and energetic choreography.
