After School is a South Korean girl group formed by Pledis Entertainment in 2009. They were known as the first group to debut with a unique admissions and graduation concept in Korea, where members are added or withdrawn in a natural manner. The band consists of eight members: Jungah, Jooyeon, Uee, Raina, Nana, Lizzy, E-Young and Kaeun. Former member Soyoung withdrew from the group in fall 2009, Bekah officially graduated from the group in July 2011, and Kahi will graduate in September 2012.
Kahi and Jungah first performed alongside labelmate Son Dam Bi in 2008. After School officially debuted in January 2009 with the song "AH!" with the five original members being Kahi, Jungah, Soyoung, Juyeon, and Bekah. After concluding their debut song promotions in mid March they made a comeback with a new member UEE in early April with "Diva". Once Soyoung graduated after "Diva" promotions, two new members, Nana and Raina were added for the popular hit single "Because of You", which attained No. 1 and a triple crown on SBS's Inkigayo. Afterwards, After School released "Bang!" with the addition of Lizzy and "Shampoo" where E-Young was added. Shortly after, Bekah graduated After School and After School made their debut in Japan.
The group began a foray into the Japanese music scene in 2011 under Avex Trax with a remake of their Korean hits "Bang!", "Diva" and "Because of You". The group also released an original Japanese song titled "Rambling Girls" in January 2012. Their debut in Japan was quite a success, as the group managed to enter the Oricon Weekly Chart at number seven. The group's debut Japanese album, Playgirlz, debuted at number eight on the Oricon Weekly Album Chart.
In April 2012, Pledis confirmed the addition of Kaeun for the fifth maxi single in June. On 5 June 2012, it was reported that Kahi would graduate from the group in September 2012 to conclude promotions in Japan but not participate in group activities in Korea. close

After School Again and Again for 2PM
After School was SHINee's rivals for MBC's Star Dance Battle Change as they bought us a performance of 2PM's chart-topper, Again & Again.
Dressed in boyish stage outfits, the After School girls (Soyoung was missing though) resurrected the 2PM's "Again & Again" stage flawlessly despite their gender.
Viewers will no doubt feel nostalgic while watching this, desperately hoping for Jaebeom's return and perform again. And it's not just us, for After School's Gahee was seen with a writing on her arm, 'THIS IS FOR YOU GUYS'. That is so sweet of them

i weren't interested in them and im still not but their only performance i liked was when they performed 2pm song ..
but i think sooner or later ill listen to their songs and get use to them, there's too much girl groups to remember. XD so it's really hard to know who;s who.
I first saw After School on 2PM's Idol Show. (it was so funny!)
Didn't really listen to their music until "Diva" came out.
"Diva" is now one of my favorite songs!
& I was really happy when they performed "Again & Again."

After School is a group that stands out in the korean entertainment industry because they are heavily influenced by the PCD. Before they debuted,members were already well known like ga hee who took part in rapping for one of son dam bi's song.ga hee was also the ex gf of yoo chun(DBSK). They were able to stand out from the other girl groups thanks to their sexiness,dancing skills and also rapping skills.
After School stands out from all of the other girl groups
maybe because they're older and don't do all that stupid cute innocent stuff...? :RBohNo:

[NEWS]After School awarded K-pop New Artist of the Year 2009 at the Billboard Japan Music Awards
Girlgroup After School wins an award during Billboard Japan Music Awards!
The group was awarded ‘K-pop New Artist of the Year 2009′ during the awards ceremony on 31st January in Tokyo, scoring a good impression with the Japanese fans.
The girls said when they received over the awards during the awards ceremony, “We are really excited for all the support we are given.” And Billboard’s Sakai representative said, “We anticipate (from you) in the future. Congratulations”.
Meanwhile, the girls is set to return to Korea on 2nd January after some rest, and they will be coming back with a new image promoting their followup song ‘When I Fall’.

This is one of my fav. girl groups. Kahi(Gahee) unnie is flippin awesome!!! Jung Ah is good on vocals and Becka is an awesome rapper. Joo Yeon is ok too. I don't really get the fascination with UEE, everybody goes goo goo gaga over her. But whatever :RBangry: and the new chickies Raina and Nana are cool. Especially Raina, her voice is amazing!

I don't really like them at first. but now i'm totally obsessed with their newest song Beauce of You. The more i listen to it the more i like it. Plus their dance for this song is pretty easy to learn so i'm having fun doing it alone in my room... btw the girls are great dancers.

[NEWS]After School to make their comeback in March!
After School’s leader Park Kahi recently had an interview with ISPLUS and it was revealed that towards the end of this month, Kahi will be cutting down on variety show appearances to prepare for After School’s upcoming mini-album.
In addition, After School who was awarded the title of K-pop’s rookie of the year at the Billboard Japan Music Awards back in January, has plans to enter the surrounding Asian markets.
Park Kahi stated:
“I realized we have a lot more overseas fans than we thought. The goal this year is to bring After School overseas. Once we achieve that goal, I plan to enter various fields. Writing and composing, even producing music, I want to jump into those fields. As for acting? Of course. In about 3 more years, I should be able to. Anyway, I’ll be showing lots of growth and experience.”
SNSD, T-ara, KARA and now After School… the new year is starting off with a Big Bang!
