Girl group KARA
recently finished their Japanese concert tour at the renown Tokyo Dome
to around 45,000 fans (many dressed in cosplay), becoming the first Korean female artists to do so. The previous Korean singers to hold solo concerts in the Dome include TVXQ
, Big Bang
, Super Junior
, and Ryu Si-Won
The concert titled "KARASIA 2013 Happy New Year in Tokyo Dome"
began at 6:00 p.m. on January 6th where Kara performed 25 songs. Fans from all over Japan were able to watch not only in the Dome itself, but through viewing theaters such as those in Yokohama and Osaka. Some fans even came from other parts of the world such as China, Korea, and the United States.
Kara opened the show with their recent Korean track, "Pandora" and later on closed the 2 hour and 30-minute show with their signature song, "Mister" which was also their Japanese debut song.
Throughout the night, The girls performed numerous hits songs and held solo stages, including Hara drumming and Gyuri flying through the crowd. Jiyoung performed "Gakuen Tengoku
" and Nicole covered Bobby Brown
's "Humpin' Around". Seungyeon performed a cover of Stacie Orrico
's "Strong Enough" with Japanese lyrics she wrote herself. Kara talked to the crowd at various points, shedding tears while thanking fans. They metaphorically referred to Kara and Kamilias as the two wheels on a bicycle that need each other to move.
Kara started their tour in Yokohama, and moved onto Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and finished in Tokyo. They visited 6 cities and performed 12 times, bringing in over 150,000 fans.
