Yuri Chika's bio

Born in a music loving family, Chika was constantly surrounded many different kind of music.
In her Junior and Senior High school days, she was a member of the English Drama Club. There, she appeared in everything from classical plays to musicals and found her love of expressing herself through song and dance.
In July 2001, made an impact debut with CD album “hana”. “I cry” written by a native Hawaiian songwriter, Kenneth Makuakane, became the talk of the Island.
This title recorded in English version caused quite a commotion among the industry, bring about a rush of inquiries to this totally new artist. Later, the Hawaii’s most popular FM station “102.7 Da Bomb” decided to air an exceptional power-play and, as a result, it captured NO.1 ranking in the request chart. A building-up of tension was seen before releasing her CD album.
