In August 2006, Il Woo sustained injuries in a serious car accident while riding with childhood friend and fellow actor Lee Min Ho, who was badly injured in the accident. His popularity rose in Flower Boy Ramen Shop where he played the lead role Cha Chi-soo and became a household name in The Moon Embracing the Sun where he co-starred alongside Kim Soo Hyun and Han Ga In. On May 4 2012, Jung Il Woo signed with Soop Management. Jung's popularity is rising abroad, especially in China after appearing on a popular Chinese TV show.
