Fuyumi Abe's bio

Singer-songwriter Fuyumi Abe was born in Hokkaido in 1983.
She released her major-label debut in 2007 through For Life Music Entertainment. In 2008, she contributed “Akehanatsu Mado (Piano Version)” to a Housemate TV commercial that co-starred popular actors Miki Nakatani and Yoshiyoshi Arakawa, leading to a rush of publicity for the young musician.

She then made a special performance on the influential Fuji TV program “Boku-ra no Ongaku” as a featured artist. Her song “Trip ? Uchi e Kaero” was used in the Japanese version of “Amelie,” scriptwriter Guillaume Laurant’s film “Je m’appelle Elisabeth”, and her cover of famous standard “Moon River” was used in a commercial for Chinese/Japanese corporation Nexco.

In addition, “Planetary” was used in a popular Kizakura commercial starring professional baseball players Suguru Egawa and Shigeru Kobayashi.

Her first conceptual mini album, Birthday, was released on December 23rd, 2009, in conjunction with the title track being used in beauty product line Kao Asience’s “Kagayakitsuzukeru Tame ni” TV commercial. In January 2010, Abe wrote the lyrics and music for the opening theme of the popular NHK drama “Sono Machi no Kodomo”, about the 15th anniversary of the Great Hanshin earthquake.

In addition, she will be responsible for the theme song of the coming-of-age movie “Kenta to Jun to Kayo-chan no Kuni”, set for release in June 2010. A cover of Nobuyasu Okabayashi’s famous song “Watashi-tachi no Nozomu Mono wa”, her version is garnering significant attention from many sources. Fuyumi Abe’s whispery voice and unique worldview are making her increasingly popular, and from this point on, it’s only going to be harder to take your eyes off of her..
